Bookaholic

Honey I’m home . . . and I bought some more books! The bookcase groans piteously. You see, I am a bookaholic. Today I went to the Library sale, held in a warehouse full of hundreds of luscious used books. I swear alarms and sirens should go off when I show up. I shouldn’t be permitted to even enter and acquire any more books. I’ve been told I have too many – what nonsense! That’s like saying a person could have too many art supplies – impossible! Well I did use some judgment and only bought a few books, granted they were the heaviest ones possible. But they were treasures and shouldn’t have been left homeless. Anyhoo, my love of books is so great that I even make my own. The pix above are from one of many books  that I’ve made. You’ll see more as we go along.

Land of Lost Artists

As a long- term resident of the Land of Lost Artists, I sent this piece of artwork to Seth Apter who put out a call for online art to accompany his new book The Pulse of Multi Media. He asked artists to answer all of some of 3 questions. So here’s mine. Thanks Seth! Love the book and the insights from other artists.

1. The Artistic Ingredient: If your artwork could talk, what would it say?
It would say "Look at all these layers of wind and weather, shapes and patterns, fragments and relics all brought together -- the better to see you with, my dear."

2. Passion in Action: Who has had the most impact on your creative life?
There is no question -  it has been Teesha Moore. Her talent for bringing together artists of all media and sparking their creativity has saved all the Lost Artists and given the Gift of Inspiration to last us a lifetime.

3. Secrets Revealed: What is one thing you have never shared with the creative community?
   My Artwork

Out here on the perimeter
Living like a shadow
In the Land of Lost Artists

Among all these layers of wind
Weather shapes patterns
Fagments relics

Always learning
Always yearning

Step forward and share
The artwork made in secret
While your heart was
Healing, hiding

It's been a long time coming
Gonna be a long time gone

Artfest 2012 Fatbook

In every landscape, the point of astonishment is the meeting of the sky and the earth . . . Beauty breaks in everywhere  -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

This was my Artfest 2012 Fatbook page - the theme was "stacks" of things so I had a stack of sky, old Ft. Worden buildings and the beach at Pt. Townsend.

Postcards from the Edge

Orly Avineri class, more a guided meditation, an alternative identity, slipping into it like a new jacket, making art with tape and collage and paint, suddenly new uses for old familiar tools, insights abound, words to journal and answers found to questions posed, sharing the work with everyone else on this journey, profound revelations, overflowing emotions, wonder and respect for creativity expressed, so cool, one experience at Artfest, here’s a few postcards I made . . .

Artfest 2012

ArtFest has been epic and changed my life, the Last Great ArtFest, definitely the best ever but bittersweet that we were saying goodbye, opening ceremony fantastic with crackling creative energy, so many artists and teachers, standing ovations and accolades and infinite gratitude for Teesha and Tracy, their great team, marriage proposal made us all cry, fantabulous classes, long exquisite dinners, journalling with friends, and a unique venture for me, my first and only ArtFest Vendor Fair, showing handpainted book covers, bind and fill with whatever you desire, see them in the pic above.  Good luck Teesha on your Next Great Adventure!
